Critical Reading Help ASAP

Lately I’ve been doing some prep and I’m more steady on math sections now than a few months back. However, I did one CR section, 24 questions, and got 9 incorrect, 15 correct. 4 vocab wrong, 5 comprehension wrong. I’m in need of desperate help at this point, please post suggestions on how to boost this score! Any suggestion on vocab cards to buy and how to attack passages would be greatly appreciated.

On a side note, roughly how many questions can you get wrong per section to score a 2100? And when I looked for Direct hits on Amazon, which one should I purchase?

Direct Hits Core Vocabulary of the SAT: Volume 1 2010 Edition
Direct Hits Toughest Vocabulary of the SAT: Volume 2 2010 Edition

volume 1 or 2, and when will the 2011 version be released for purchase? Thanks so much :-)!

-do some research on this forum and you will find all the answers and suggestions you need to improve your CR score. Research.
-5 wrong on CR for a 700, 4 Wrong on M for 700 (math curve varies every year so try to get only three wrong or you might end up with 690), If you get 10 on the essay then 5 wrong will put you at 700 for W.
-buy both DH 1 and 2
-your welcome

wow only 5 wrong…that’s intense. Thanks :D

I didn’t go through the books but I’m pretty sure that everyone on the forum will advise you to get both. Oh, and a few days ago the company mentioned on its Facebook page that the 2011 editions will be available around early September.

thank you :)

You can have 7 wrong in CR for 700. 5 wrong is usually 740.
See this list: http://www.erikthered.com/tutor/SAT-Released-Test-Curves.pdf

–I stand corrected.
–But i wouldn’t say 7 wrong in CR for a 700. The reason being that for three of those listed tests, 7 wrong was a 680, 690, 690. and two of them were from 2010.
–So i would say … 6 wrong is a guaranteed 700. 7 wrong is 81% chance of getting a 700.
–The average score on those 16 CR sections for 7 wrong has been a 700, but its an average with scores lower and greater than 700 on the tests. So their is no complete guarantee of getting a 700 with 7 wrong.
