How is the answer B but not A? A is totally supported. I don’t understand…can anyone please help?

Have a nice day

According to the Princeton Review’s explanation, A is not correct because both passages mention battles being won. The wording is a bit equivocal because you probably thought that a victory was referring to the whole war, but it is actually referring to any battle in the war, thus A is not correct. B is correct since the war “cemented America’s independence” and it contributed to the “American confidence in nationalism.” The inference drawn in Passage 1 is a stretch, and you probably won’t see a question like this on the actual SAT due to those litigious test-takers who gripe for a measly 10 points.
