Cross Country vs Running on my own time on the Common App

Hey,

I’ve done Varsity Cross Country for 4 years (10+ hours per 12 weeks), and I’ve also been running on my own in these years (10+ hours per week year round).
Since there are limited spaces on the Common App extracurricular section (10 items), can I make my time doing Varsity Cross Country, and running on my own (training during offseason) as a full year activity? Or am I required to put Cross Country as only 12 weeks?

I captain my varsity cross country team and I organize the summer practices in August as well as run on my own starting in June each year after track ends. I put it as a single activity with like 22 weeks or something.

Many people do a varsity sport and the same sport in a club setting so I think it would be pretty normal to cover both in 1 section. If you have a lot of awards/leadership to talk about for each you might do better by leaving off something else that is not very important to you and using 2 sections for XC and running. Having great depth in a few things is generally better than having many activities that don’t seem to mean very much to you.
