For graduation some friends and I would like to go on a cruise. We’ve done some research and it seems like most cruises have some age requirements, usually 18 or 21 without a parent… there’s about a 50/50 split in our group between 17 and 18 year olds. There are a few cruiseliness that say that as long as there’s an 18 year old in the room it’s fine, but there are only a few of those kind and none have the type of cruise we want.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I’ve also heard that they might not be strict with the age thing but I don’t know how credible that is…

unwritten, D and her not yet 18 year old friend tried this last year. It was a no go. Sorry. But they were able to book a great all inclusive resort in Mexico in my D’s name. Warning: Check and double check all safety issues. I like tripadvisor.com.

unwritten, I assume that since you posted this on a parent page you want some reasonable advice…the cruise lines have gotten tougher about this particuarly with the new passport requirements. There are some great all inclusives, please search for and read the post about Cancun from about a month or two ago…
particularly the section where other parents and I suggest some safety rules for being on an all inclusive or generally being down in Mexico. Stay in groups, designate someone to stay sober (sorry joev) each night. The stories about people disappearing from cruises and the Natalie Holloway stories continue each year because people do not take some basic precautions.
