Is it possible to double major in CS and Computational Finance even though Comp Finance is in a different school? I realize you apply to it after entering CMU, but is this a viable option that wouldn’t take up an overwhelming amount of time?

The curricula don’t overlap much so it’s very hard to do. Comp finance major + CS Minor is much more doable.

Would it be really tough even with a lot of AP’s? I should have about 15 tests coming in assuming I do well enough and of course assuming that I get accepted. And also would the opposite be doable as well? CS major and Comp Finance minor?

15 APs no longer makes you special in CMU It helps but as a point of reference I came in with 131 Units of AP credit and a Comp Fi/CS Double would kill me
CM Major and Comp finance minor is probably doable but I suspect harder than Comp Finance Major + CS Minor. It would probably look better to recruiters though!

Either one is more than adequate for top tier finance jobs. Having both means you are either really passionate about them or you are stupidly insecure. Seriously, each one stands on its own quite nicely.

I’ll venture to say it is possible to do the double, but you will have to cut corners at every opportunity. 15-251 in the fall, distributed instead of O.S. or compilers, etc. CS major with comp fi minor is very doable
