C's = Disqualification?

D=Death.
C=BREATHE…
B=oh now you’re just being ridiculous.

My brother got into Stanford with two Ds.
(Though this was maybe a decade ago, and he did have research.)

I have a personal anecdote.

I have a friend who is the president of an academic/service club. He takes AP classes and is the concertmaster of our school orchestra. He has perfect and near perfect scores on his SAT IIs and over 2250 on his SAT I. He is also an excellent writer.

He also has around 4 Cs on his transcript and multiple Bs.
I can’t speak for UCs, but he applied to many top 10-20 schools.

He applied to UMich in October and still haven’t heard back from them.
He applied to Rice/Stanfrod and was rejected.
He also applied to WashU, but was waitlisted (Keep in mind that WashU has a very large waitlist [around 500 applicants if I’m not mistaken]).
He’s only been accepted into our local third tier state university.

I wont draw any conclusions.

^I’d say that colleges might have viewed him as a slacker, and not very serious. However, I’m not part of an adcom and can only speak from my opinion.
