CS IN UIUC

I am aware of the CS Eng major and the CS+X Major in the LAS. I was curious to know which degree would I be graduating with if i applied for CS+X Major, and would it be counted under STEM inspite of being in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences (International visa increases if it is a STEM degree)

All the UIUC CS+X majors in the Liberal Arts college lead to Bachelor of Science degrees, not Bachelor of Arts. Most would consider that STEM, but I do not know if there may be some kind of special meaning to STEM for international visa purposes.

There isn’t just CS eng and CS + X.

There is also Math&CS, and Stat&CS which are different from CS+X. The CS+X program launched just few years ago, has total of around 150 students. Math&CS alone has 300 students and is a more traditional older classical CS major.

CS eng has most students and its what people mostly apply to, hence its lowest available seats and lower acceptance rate. Math&CS and Stat&CS are right behind with close level of difficulty, maybe same difficulty as CS eng 2 years ago. It ultimately really depends on demand and number of applicants to each major. CS eng wasn’t that difficult to get in 4 years back.
