CS Major + Studying Abroad Questions?

Hello everyone. I have a question concerning being a CS Major: How much room do I have outside of the required classes (for CoE) and CS major classes? Also, about studying abroad, how many Cornell students study abroad? When do they do so? Can CS majors study abroad? Looking on the website, it doesn’t seem like there are too many options for CS majors, are my findings correct?

Thanks everyone for reading and thanks in advance for everyone who answers any of my questions!

Would love to see this question answered since I’m wondering the same thing :stuck_out_tongue:
I’d also greatly appreciate some insight into the CS major through CAS rather than CoE.

You certainly have room to take classes outside the major during your junior/senior years.

A lot of students do study abroad, but there are many other options for doing it (i.e. during the summer and/or after-graduation). As for CS, to study abroad, you might have to shift your schedule and/or take more classes each semester, but it should be very doable, especially if you have quite a lot of AP credits.

CAS and CoE are actually very similar for CS. I’m not a CS major so I don’t know the specific differences - it’d be best to look on the Cornell website - I’m sure they mention it somewhere.
