Cs on Transcript

How do Cs affect a persons application? Do Cs matter if you still have an average gpa overall? I had sadly received 5 Cs in total in Sophomore year, due to a rigorous course load. Will this kill my chances?

In state or OOS? What are your SAT scores? High SAT scores and in state, you may still have a chance. “Due to rigorous schedule” isn’t a good reason, as it leads to questions of whether you can handle a college load.

If you don’t get accepted to a 4-yr program you want, an option is a year or 2 at a CC where you show that you are a serious student and your past is behind you. Then, especially as an in-state student, you’ll most likely get in at UMD-CP.

Thanks for your response. In your opinion, what would a high SAT score be considered as?

For instate, at least in the mid to high 600’s for M and CR. People are accepted with lower numbers but usually have a higher GPA to offset it.

Again, if you are out of state, it’s probably not a likely possibility, but it’s always worth trying.
