Title, basically. I have a 1580, 4.5 W GPA, white female from Indiana. I unfortunately never took SAT subject tests, but my profile is good overall IMO. I would prefer schools with good financial aid.
Purdue? However, CS is probably more competitive to gain admission to than the school overall.
What are your cost constraints?
Purdue is one of the best instate STEM values in the country. With your stats and being instate you’d be a strong candidate for merit aid at Purdue.
Purdue!
Alabama.
And if you submit their app by Dec 15, you’ll get a huge scholarships. The app is super easy…takes like 5 minutes. Then send transcripts and test scores.

Thank you all for the advice! I’ve applied to Purdue EA already as a CS major, so hopefully that works out!
My family is solidly middle-class (my parents combined make around 80k a year), so cost is a pretty huge factor in my decisions.
Thanks for suggesting Alabama! I haven’t done much research on them, but I’ll definitely check them out!
The app is super easy. No essays, no LORs, just a few questions. But apply by Dec 15 to get their big assured Presidential scholarship.
Have you asked your parents how much they’ll spend each year on college? If not, please do so …you need to know what your situation is.
Do you know if Purdue is affordable? Do you know what merit you’ll get from them?
Did you make NMSF? (I don’t know what the cutoff is for Indiana)
GaTech, CWRU, Purdue, Ohio State, U of Colorado Boulder, Colorado School of Mines, all do not require subject exams. The main universities that require SAT subject exams, are on the east and west coast.
Look at Rose Hullman Institute of Tech too in Indiana.
Alabama has had a pretty disorganized CS department of late, with a lot of drop outs, but Alabama is better for physics than CS, if physics interests you.
@mom2collegekids I did make NMSF, and Purdue in-state full pay would be a little bit of a stretch but they would likely be able to make it work. Based off my stats, I heard it’s probable that I would get merit aid, but it definitely isn’t a guarantee.
