CSOM laptop program

Does anyone have any opinions or information regarding the ThinkPad T61 offered through the CSOM laptop program? With all things considered, is it a good deal or not? I breifly checked the price of a comparable model offered elsewhere and the Carlson deal (with the included tech support for 4 years) seemed OK.

I did the price check and spec-wise it isn’t a super great deal, but the 4 year warranty, accidental damage recovery, and microsoft office suite make up for that. I believe buying a separate laptop with the same specs and deciding to add Office to it would make the prices equal and that doesn’t even take into account the warranty stuff.

I was debating whether or not I wanted to buy through the program because I’m a fairly careful person and don’t think I would do anything to damage/lose it, and I know enough about computers to prevent/remove spyware, but I’ll have it for 4 years and bad things are likely to happen over a 4 year span. It’s nice to know that there is a warranty and free tech support over that period in the case that I actually do need to use one or both.

I was going to get a thinkpad regardless of buying it through the program or not because they are the best laptops. Best specs for the best price, and you could still get XP on them. So, its your choice whether to buy through the program, and I think it comes down to whether you want the security of a 4 year warranty and free tech support. Either way, I would recommend a thinkpad.
