CSS/IDOC & how each school uses it

Is there any place where you can see each school’s fin aid formula based on CSS & FAFSA data?

Go to google and type in the school’s name, followed my NPC. This is more accurate than the arbitrary FAFSA EFC.

Thanks. I read up on NPC and it looks like each school has to have one. And it also seems like the College Board offers the IM (Institutional Methodology) for schools to be able to customize their own NPC. I guess what I am interested in is whether or not the NPC formulas are publicly available for each school.

Here’s an example why I am interested from fin planning purposes:

Some schools look at 401K contribution as “money that could go to pay for college” and add that back to AGI. In fact, I have heard that some schools assess 401K $$ as a higher rate than AGI itself. Therefore, it might actually make sense to minimize 401K for a few years, even though it seems counterintuitive.

I guess you could reverse engineer the NPC formulas by signing in as a guest at each site and just changing one variable at a time, but that seems like a lot of work, and I don’t want to reinvent the wheel if I don’t have to.
