CSS Medical Expenses....Chiropractor, Homeopatics

When asked to list out of pocket medical expenses would that include things like chiropractic care (assuming ones’ insurance doesn’t cover it), homeopaths, naturopaths, etc…

I would say yes. I would put down anything that an HSA would cover.

Cpt, do you know if having a few extra thousand in additional medical expenses is going to matter that much on the CSS? Or, for that matter, will it make a difference if I forecast next year’s out of pocket medical to be similarly high (due to naturopaths primarily)?

I don’t know for sure, however, Kelsmom, Swimcatsmom and others who are truly expereinced in the FAFSA and other forms have commented on this, and even dire and direct medical expenses do not seem to give the results much of a clout. It’s not as though you get a dollar for dollar offset for them. However, for individual schools, one never knows, so put it all down. I’ve seen situations here where everyone says it’s not going to fly and it does. There is no central financial aid arbiter in this process, and all professional judgements are made by the financial aid officers so the expression YMMV really holds.
