How do I answer the 2012 tax return section if I haven’t filed my 2012 taxes? It’s due by nov 1st and I won’t have filed by then.

Use the latest check stub you have to guesstimate.

As Emeraldkity says, you have to give it your best guess. When you tax return is completed, you resubmit using the info. A lot of schools will want that return or use of some service that they will explain to you to get the relevant data to cross check. Then awards are fine tuned accordingly. That is, by the way, another reason why anyone who absolutely needs/wants financial aid is taking a risk applying ED. That financial aid estimate is just as good as the estimated info you give to such schools.

You can’t file your 2012 return until 2013, so everyone is in the same boat.

If your 2012 situation will be similar to your 2011 situation, you can take the numbers from your 2011 return. Otherwise just estimate as best you can.
