CSS Profile for Penn... HELP - LATE!

Hiya... I applied ED to Penn CAS (Nov. 4 deadline). I submitted the Penn Financial Aid Supplement on time before Nov. 1, but was not aware of the CSS Profile deadline. I just submitted it today, which is approximately 6 days after the updated ED deadline of 11/4/11. Do you people think that it will be a problem to my admissions decision or my receiving of any financial aid? Should I call admissions and let them know?

Any other advice greatly appreciated!!

-an anxious Penn ED applicant

You are going to find there are hard deadlines and soft deadlines. If Penn says this is a hard deadline, then you are out of luck. Chances are everyone's case file that was submitted before you will be processed and then the late ones (in the order they were received). So hope that this shakes out ok.

As worrisome as that sounds, keep some perspective. There are some 4000 colleges in the US, many of them fantastic even though they aren't in the Top 100 list (a rather stupid list, IMHO). Also, you may not make Penn ED, so then the Profile papers don't matter.

So learn from this and navigate the next hurdle, which is to get your act together if Door Number One doesn't work out. Make sure you have your application material together for at least a couple more colleges -- and that you've been on the appropriate websites to know, for sure, when financial aid papers are due. Don't screw up again on dates for submission.

Basically you just stumbled in front of the Handsome Prince (or Beautiful Princess). All is not lost but instead of going "goo-goo gagaga" and drooling down your shirt front, take a breath and be nimble enough to flirt with some other gorgeous options. (I assure you that they are out there, no matter how much Handsome takes your breath away at the moment).

Trust me, your parents and your friends and, above all, your school counselor will appreciate some maturity from you at this moment. Careening around with rising wails of grief is just not necessary. No one died. You have your papers in now and you have to wait and see if there are consequences --- and be smart and use the waiting time to paddle like mad to see some other possibilities.

If you decide you need to call...call the FINANCIAL AID DEPARTMENT...not admissions. Admissions does not handle financial aid....they handle your application for admissions.

Thanks to both posters..... haha. I have 11 applications ready to be sent out should I not get into my ED choice. I hope that does not happen, but do not worry, I am ready. And okay, I will phone the FA office.

I tend not to be the lecturing mom, but for anyone else who pings this thread -- for heavens sake READ the website and know what the deadlines are, what is expected, what the process is. This is one of the most important financial decisions you will be involved in for decades to come. Read the fine print. When you get to college there won't be people holding your hand through many things, so practice using your inquisitive and detail oriented side of your brain. You will use it much over the next decade or two or three.

Thumper is correct...the department to call is financial aid.
