<p>Nothing like waiting until the last minute…. my husband is a professor with a salary. He also does some consulting (about $20k gross, and net profit under $3k) and last year’s 1040 has schedule C profit or loss from business. He pays self employment tax (was only $79 last year).
I’ve done the CSS but of course his net from the consulting is included in the gross income on the CSS profile, but not sure if I should be checking off self employed as well (is it a one or the other question, or does the CSS profile allow you to be both, like he is?).
He doesn’t have any real business assets as he does a bit of work from home, or lectures freelance, like many professors does.
Not sure how to finalize the CSS profile. Any help for a total procrastinator?</p>
