CSS PROFILE - NCP- When will support end question (NP 130 and 150)?

I am unclear how to fill these out. Our court order reads as follows

Support shall be paid until the child (ren) reached the age of 18 except as otherwise provided in x.xx

x.xx reads

The parents shall pay for the post secondary educational support of the child(ren). Post secondary support provisions will be decided by agreement or by the court.

And here is the problem. NCP is a whereabouts unknown situation. No child support has been received since June of 2015 and that was under wage garnishment (with a total garnished in all of 2015 of $16…yep $16. 2014 was much better at $25.88). Whereabouts have been unknown (no contact with student) for at least 6 years and I’ve plenty of documented history of non payment, garnishment attempts and enforcement by the state and arrears (75k). I only note the 75k arrears as it is so very comical compared to the $16. LOL!

So obviously NCP is not going to pay anything, I can’t get money that isn’t there and have no way to find the guy (nor do I want to, to be honest). Luckily the one school that wants PROFILE doesn’t ask for the NCP form so I don’t have to deal with a waiver. But I am not sure how to answer the questions posed in 130 and 150. It doesn’t seem clear that support ends on the 18th birthday with the caveat of the post secondary statement in x.xx. However no provisions were decided by agreement, or by the court.

130 asks for the date support ends, 145 for the amount NCP will contribute and 150 asks if there is an agreement stipulating this contribution.

Should I put the students birthdate as the end date, $0 for the contribution and then say no regarding any agreement? I’m not sure what else to do. I can add the details of the support order in the additional info section at the end. Any other ideas???

IMO you’ll need to put the info on the court order and then ask for Professional Judgement from the school your child selects. You should get it based on your documentation.

@“Erin’s Dad” Thanks. I’m not exactly sure what you mean by asking for Professional Judgment. I can certainly add the court order info into the extra info section but am still unclear what to put for the actual answers to.

Question 130 is a date field, 145 is a dollar field and 150 is a yes or no drop down so I don’t have a ton of options within the questions themselves.

If my child is admitted to and selects the one school that requires the PROFILE I suppose we can ask for professional judgement (is that like an appeal?) but I guess my assumption and hope had been to address questions sufficiently in the PROFILE itself for award packages to be offered, especially given that this school does not require the NCP form.

You appeal to the school and ask for their PJ in the FA office. If the school doesn’t require NCP info why are you asking about this?

The Profile itself asks these questions, I’d like to answer them correctly. There are basic NCP questions on the main form, versus schools also requiring the NCP form. In that event we would have to request a waiver.
