In the parent detail section, there is a question that asks for the Social Security Number, and there isn’t a red asterisk next to it. I was wondering if I should input my parents’ social security numbers (even though they don’t feel the need to), and how will it affect potential financial aid if I don’t?

Hi: Leaving your parents’ SSNs out of the Parent Detail section will definitely not have any effect on potential financial aid award amounts. That said, ask your parents what their preference would be and go from there. SSNs are only used for identity verification purposes; however, the Profile coding also uses other identifiers.
If you are required to supply tax returns and W-2’s through IDOC, that will have their SSN, so its either now or later.
