CSS - reporting Sibling Middle School Tuition

I’m filling out the CSS and don’t know what to do for the sibling private school tuition credits. My in-laws pay for my son’s school due to issues with the public school he was attending. Of my three kids, only the one goes to private. My question is how do I report that on the CSS? We don’t pay for it - they do. They “don’t want anyone to know” that they pay it. Neither of us claim it on income tax deductions.

My question is: if I say we pay it won’t they just say “well if you can pay that then you can pay for your daughter’s college.” and if I say we don’t pay it but relatives to then will it be “well if they are contributing to this kid’s school they should be contributing to college tuition.”

((As an aside they emphatically say they will NOT contribute to her college as he has PhD in Nuclear Physics from an ivy and believes colleges are “rip offs”! ))

They won’t expect grandparents to pay under any circumstance. Don’t worry about that. It’s just your income that matters (and that of your student).

If it asks what you pay for tuition now, the answer would be zero.

Exactly what income tax deduction could you claim? Middle School tuition is not tax deductible regardless of who signs the check.

idk - they send me a doc each year for taxes… i never use it.

HRSMom - Thanks a ton!!
