My D was fortunate to get an early admission to a full needs school, but the financial aid award letter was so off I knew it couldn’t be right. My first phone call to their FA office I was given a standard response of “we used your information” and it would be finalized once they received our taxes. During the 2nd call, I kept talking long enough that the guy pulled up our 2014 taxes where it was clear I must had made mistakes. Because that one CSS was due early I had the opportunity to go back and update the CSS for the RD schools. Those new to CSS - click on every question mark (?) you see, read them, even if the answer seems obvious. Print out their “Tax Line Reference Chart”, use it, even if you have to estimate from your 2014 taxes. If you aren’t sure, call the CSS Help Desk. The CSS is not like FASFA where it is easy to make changes. You want to get it right the first time!
