I plan on applying in Oct 2016 for Fall 2017 admission.
Biology major.
GPA 3.83 3.77 UW
SAT 1280/1600
ACT 26
I live in CSU Sonoma State area but I have no interest in SSU or Humboldt.
I really want to attend SLO… Any chance?
My other thoughts are CSU San Jose, Monterey, Long Beach, San Diego or Long Beach.
I am considering a theatre major at Cal Poly SLO but biology is my first interest
Any thoughts?
Calculate your Eligibility index (CSU GPA X 800) + (SAT Math + CR) OR (CSU GPA X 200) + (ACT COMPOSITE X10)
You want the following EI targets for the best chances at these schools:
SDSU: 4100/1000
CSULB: 4000/950
CSUMB: 2900/684
SJSU: 3500/850
SLO uses the MCA point score instead of the EI, so you need calculate your MCA points. There is a link on how to do the calculation. SLO is probably a slight reach since your test scores and GPA are below the averages for the School of Science and Mathematics. Biology also has a very low acceptance rate at 14%.

My EI 4300 and MCA 4800.
Any chance for SLO for Bio or should I save my app fee? ( just being pragmatic here)
Let me ask this … *If * I were to apply to SLO for second major option… Theatre… What is acceptance rate? I wouldn’t try and change major after .
You have a very good chance at SLO with an MCA score of 4800 for Biology. Theater Arts has a 37% acceptance rate, so a definite Match. If Biology is your #1 choice in majors, then I would definitely apply for Biology. SLO has considered an alternate major in the past few years, so putting Theater Arts as an alternate would be an advantage if you are happy with either major.
Thank you for your input!
I think you are in good shape for the CSUs you list except SLO which IMHO could go either way.
I’d encourage you to add UCR and UCSC to your list.
Good luck
I am planning on UCSC but not considered UCR. Maybe I will now. Thanks
