I am filling out my CSU applications and I am confused by a couple of things.

1) When asking about my parents’ California residency, why did they only ask about one of my parent? Which one do I answer for?
2) How do I know if I receive honors credit for a class? Does it have to have (HP) beside the course title? For example, I took Algebra 2 Honors but the course title is “Algebra 2AB Honors (P)”. Does this mean the class did not earn me honors credit?

Oh, and 3) If I am taking an AP class in my senior year, do I select “Not applicable” when they ask “Credit earned for:” because it’s still in progress or do I just select “Both fall and spring terms”?

1) your custodial parent if parents are divorced
2) use ASSIST

For 1), my parents are not divorced so which one do I answer for? Or does it not matter?

Check the doorways link for your HS classes. Even though your HS may consider classes Honors, they have to be UC approved. My son’s Honors Alg 2 class was not UC approved so no Honors points.

Which parent has custody? If joint, then answer only one.

Do your parents not live in the same house?

The reason you answer for one parent, assuming that your parents are not divorced, is that the universities can typically figure out that both parents live with you, in the same house if your parents are not separated or divorced.

Not to be mean, but are you really ready for a university education? These questions can be answered by your teachers, high school counselor, and parents if they’re familiar with your coursework.
