to be honest, you have a couple of things against you:
transfer priorities to a UC: cc>uc>csu. Community college transfers have the highest priority, next is UC to UC and last CSU to UC. Your chances would have been better if you had transferred to a community college and then applied to the UC;
Computer Science is one of the most competitive majors to transfer to a UC, even for students closer to a 4.0 GPA.
I know of a person in almost your exact situation who is now a senior at SJSU. The person’s major is computer science with a GPA of 3.8. The person applied to UCD and another UC (Berkeley?) but did not get into either one.
I’m in a similar situation as well, I am trying to transfer as a Public Health major to Berkeley from another UC. Do I have a chance if I have a 3.9-4.0 gpa, pretty good reason to transfer, and solid ECs? I am also trying to transfer in one year because I have enough credits to do so.
I believe you have a very good chance, especially with the high GPA from another UC. I know of someone who transferred to UCB a year ago in the biological sciences. The person had around a 4.0 in the freshman year at UCSC, but decided to attend a community college in the sophomore year just to be sure. The person had a 4.0 at the community college and now is a senior at UC Berkeley.
use the TR GPA by YR tab to see how GPA for admitted UC applicants from each CSU.
with this one you can use the Residency and Source School radio buttons to show how many non-CC california residents were admitted - most of those probably came from CSUs.
that will give you a sense of the transfer gpa for all admitted students by campus and major. As a CSU candidate, you need to be in the upper half of the GPA range to be competitive.
So, the certainty are some. I think you’ll find them all to be a reach.
