So, let’s say hypothetically the school I’m planning to transfer requires 10 classes for my major from a CC, what if I complete all the CSU GE requirements, but only complete 9 major requirements? Would I be ineligible? Does the fact that I’m also working affect it?
No, you wouldn’t be ineligible. You could still get accepted but you would be a class behind and would need to complete that at the CSU. But if there was only one more spot available and it was between you and somebody with the same grades, GPA, etc and they completed all 10 pre-reqs but you only completed 9, well you can guess who they would accept.
Is transferring from a two year community college to a csu easier than transferring to a UC?? Please give me your experience. Thanks!
kind of…but it varies widely by campus and to some degree by major. UCs have TAG which is a much more robust transfer framework and gives you a published GPA threshold. Take the listed classes, earn the GPA, follow the process and you are in. Earning the threshold GPA (3.0-3.5 depending on campus and program) proves a challenge to many.
Most CSUs keep the GPA threshold hidden. except SJSU which publshes their threhold by major here:

It looks like all CSU and UC campuses are now only taking Jr transfers. (60 semester units).
Both do a good job publishing the courses they expect on Assist.

Popular schools in both systems are very competitive.
