This was my dream school I got the waitlist notice in February and we’re almost in August now. This hurts a lot, all my friends know what school they’re going to and I’m out here looking like a deer in headlights! TBH it’s really embarrassing telling people you’re still on the waitlist because they look at you like you’re holding on to false hope or that you are in denial of being denied. Please guys just Accept us at least for spring enrollment we all deserve it at this point or even deny us if if thats the case it’s better than giving us false hope especially this long!
Hi, sorry for responding very late to this thread. I’ve been waitlisted from CSULB too, and I’ve also been waiting since the day I got this waitlist email. I’ve been clinging on to this belief that maybe I’ll get in, but it seems like the staff’s inconsistency is making me believe otherwise.
I was at a 3.7 GPA and a 1200 SAT score so I’m just around the average student. I’m on the list for pre-CompSci, so I’m assuming that the major I’m applying for is impacted.
I’m currently enrolled here at CSUN, and the most redeeming part about this college is that they’re very reliable and responsive. While I would love to go to Long Beach instead, their unreliable staff is making me think that it would be bad news for us. Think about it, if they can’t even promise that they’re gonna send us their admission decisions by “beginning July”, how can we also possibly believe that enrolling in classes would go smoothly, let alone in a timely manner?
Whatever happens, rejected or accepted, I hope that every person here who is still waiting will get in. If otherwise, I still wish for all of you to still go on a different but much better path!
@mdelac: All majors at CSULB are impacted and unfortunately impaction means there are far more qualified applicants than spots available. I agree that CSULB should be more responsive and not continue to lead on students that are anxiously waiting. Covid has thrown most schools for a loop and this is adding to all kinds of issues including keeping students on the waitlist indefinitely. Best of luck at CSUN and most students will thrive regardless if they attend their 1st choice or 21st choice of schools.
@cupcake88 perfectly said. I am not looking for them to defer us to spring because of the way they handled the waitlist. They could have atleast went through the people they felt had to chance and declined them so people can move on. They decided not to even look at the waitlist yet. They have yet to LOOK at it. At the same time during this covid pandemic, they Forsure have more to time to read through.
To be completely honest, CSULB was unresponsive on everything from the beginning not just waitlist. I applied and submitted portfolio for the Animation opt at the school of fine arts, they didn’t reply until I called them and asked the head of the department months later about my portfolio submission just to know it was rejected. At this point I’ve lost my interest for this school…
Did anyone else receive a call or voicemail from Natalie Sparkman about the waitlist?
I called them this morning and they said they’ve made decisions but their system wasn’t updated so they couldn’t send letters. At this point it is getting EXTREMELY ridiculous. I am hoping after all this we get admitted, because I will be writing a letter to admissions on how they have handled this.
@Jumperman321 I didn’t get that many specifics from my email but this is what it read.
"Thank you for your interest in CSULB. If you decide to remain on our Wait List you can expect to hear a final admission by end of next week. "
So by Aug 7th, we should hear our results. But then again I’ve lost complete faith in the admissions office because this is like the 3rd time they have reissued a new date so who knows at this point.
Best of luck to everyone.
I got a voicemail from Natalie Sparkman but I don’t know if this means I’m most likely to be rejected this Fall… anyway this is what she said:
“Hi this is Natalie Sparkman calling from California State University Long Beach. I’m just touching base with you I know that you’ve been on the wait list or while we do appreciate all the students being patient to this pandemic, we’re just trying to get through all these students who we admitted some in challenges and we’re just trying to make sure that we’re gaging how we move forward with the wait list with you and we do appreciate your patience and I will give you a follow up next week. Hopefully we will have a decision by then but please be patient with us and there’s still time to apply for spring 2021. Keep in mind that that will start August 1. So we wanna make sure that you make sure you’re aware of that hopefully we’ll give you decision the first week of August that way it’ll give you a couple of these three weeks to decide if you wanna reapply to our University for spring 2021. My phone number is 562-338-8642. We hope that you’re staying safe right now. Take care and hope to have a update by next week. Thank you bye bye.”
@polchie19 that is so interesting. i wonder why she would call you personally to say that. i never received any call, voicemail, or email.
hey guys i just called Natalie Sparkman and had a conversation with her about whats been going on and she seemed very apologetic. but to me its starting to sound more and more like we are not going to be admitted. she said we are group B (waitlist), and they are still working with group A (those who were conditionally accepted) i don’t exactly know what she means when she says they are working with them but she said if group A is good to go then those in group B (waitlist) will be rejected. so we are pretty much their absolute lowest priority right now.
I can’t believe how this school is handling the situation… If they were going to reject us I would have been fine with receiving news about it early this month instead of dragging it until the end
I called this morning and was told that they are trying to see how many admitted people fail to respond to their SOAR registration(today’s the deadline). If they don’t respond, they can’t attend for Fall 2020 and therefore they’ll fill spots with waitlisted applicants. I asked how we would register for classes if accepted and she said that you’d work with an academic advisor to work out an “alternative” to SOAR registration in order to register for fall 2020 classes. She said that decisions will likely extend to, at most, the second week of August. From what I’ve been hearing, I assume a few people still have a chance of getting accepted but since most people usually do respond to their registration before the deadline, those accepted off the waitlist now will be a very small group.
@sourgummies I think what she means when she says she’s working with them is probably either discussing financial aid or just trying to get responses from the group? Wait so group if the entirety of group A accepts their admission offer, the entire group B gets immediately rejected?
@sourgummies I think if everyone who is admitted already accepts their offer and they don’t have anymore spots, then yes all waitlisted people get rejected. However, I know that not everyone who was accepted took their spots because a few people at my school did get off the waitlist end of May. I think they’re trying to see if they have anymore room because colleges(especially public colleges) tend to want to fill up as much room as possible.
any updates? i thought today was the deadline smh.
You guys now they’re saying another two weeks. Please keep calling and tell them to stop stalling! I am getting fed up at this point.
smh i don’t understand why they don’t bother to give us the courtesy to email or communicate with everyone on waitlist. i have received ZERO emails/calls/updates. i didn’t even receive an email telling me i was on the waitlist back in Feb! lol. i had to check my application status. if it weren’t for this forum or calling them, i would have no idea what’s going on. since May we have been on this emotional rollercoaster w/ CSULB. i’ve pretty much accepted the idea that i’m probably going to be denied after all of this, but all i want is closure from them. we all paid money to put in an application and this is how they treat us
sorry, just had to rant a little bit.
@sourgummies 100% took the words right out my mouth. They have not notified me of anything! I literally had to log in to see i was waitlisted as well. I have received ZERO emails from them. At this point it’s best they admit most of us because they aren’t doing their application system any justice…
@sourgummies i just got denied admission… and they still didn’t send an email.
