Yeah, I’m done with my lower division for my major except for I think 1 class that did not have an articulation in my CC. I asked because I just dropped off all my required transcripts with them yesterday including my international records and I wanted to have an idea how long it takes them to process. @lulu1115
@adreezybones I think they might just be behind because some people have provisional, and a lot of my friends still have the conditional though. So I’m thinking it’s just taking them awhile. Transcripts are required by the 15th, so I’m thinking after that date they will start rolling out provisional more quickly. Yeah, I finished all lower division, but one class I’m in right now. I’m wondering though if I could have just taken it there I don’t think I needed to rush and take all lower division right off the bat just as long as I had some of them done. lol. Yeah, I noticed that about cc some classes don’t articulate so that is why transferring is so good, huh to be able to take classes with you and take more there.
But having more accomplished lower div classes boost your chances of getting admitted. If you’ll notice(including past transfer threads) there’s some people who have insanely high GPAs but do not have a lot of the lower division classes/requirements and get denied. @lulu1115
@lulu1115 I am currently taking physiology, so it’s an in progress course.
@taki123 @thehotwaffle It said “iniated” for me too a few days ago but now its off my ‘to-do list’.
Does anyone else have a hold on their student center that says “prevent all enrollment actions?”
@StudentAgain Thanks! Good to know!
Hey guys is anyone trying to see the status of their application thru the Applicant Self Service on the CSULB website? I tried to get an update and the e-mail usually shows up in my inbox like 30 secs after but since yesterday nothing shows up ? I’m a transfer from OCC applying for the Illustration/Animation BFA and I already submitted my portfolio, wondering what this might mean ? thanks!
So I’ve sent in all of my transcripts and test scores and have yet to see them pop up on my dashboard. I contacted all of the schools and organizations and they have confirmed that CSULB has received them. I’m worried about my application status because it hasn’t changed yet online.
I’m a current CSULB student. I was accepted Fall of 2018. If you guys have any questions, let me know.
@kyky123 that’s normal. It just means you can’t register for classes. It’ll be taken off the day of orientation.
@IBkidonthestreet That’s normal. The website says it can take up to a month to process transcripts, but in reality it can take 4-6 weeks for that to happen. As long as they receive the transcripts by the due date or they’re postmarked by the due date, it’s fine.
Also, Conditional or provisional acceptance is normal. They just don’t want you failing any classes or getting any D’s. As long as you pass your classes, you’ll be fine.
@rb8991 Did you take all your lower division courses before transfer? Or just some of them?
@lulu1115 All of them. I had 72 units once transferring to CSULB
Okay I took all of them too, and I’m also transferring from CC with 72 units as well! But I was curious because some people in my classes didn’t who got accepted didn’t take any lower division. I thought they all had to be done before, but I guess you can take them there too. If I would have known I would have taken some there lol. @rb8991
How do you like Long Beach btw? @rb8991
@lulu1115 I like the campus and the people. The teachers can be really hit or miss though. I took 5 classes last semester and 5 this semester and I’ve only really liked two teachers so far. I’m a criminal justice major if that helps at all. I know business majors, history majors, and art history majors absolutely love all their teachers.
I think it depends on the major. Some are required and some are preferred. They don’t really care when it comes to “preferred” classes. Since school is so expensive here (along with the textbooks) you’re saving yourself tons of money and time by finishing them at community college.
Hey @rb8991 around when do we get the financial aid offer? As soon as we get confirmed by the university?
@telepethics I have also been trying to use the self-service and it isn’t sending anything to me. I have tried to have it send the email about 10 times and this point, and it still isn’t working. I verified my email through the website to make sure it wasn’t my email that was wrong, and it was verified, so I am thinking that it is an issue on their end.
@adreezybones I got my conditional acceptance letter email on 2/16/18, and then I got my financial aid package email 3/21/18.
@rb8991 Just curious do you know where a good place to get loans is? Do you think a bank like schools first, or I guess you can go through actual financial aid as well they offer loans with no interest until after you finish school? My sister’s boyfriend is wondering what everyone else typically uses for loans.
Were you cleared for admission by that time or were you still conditional? @rb8991
