@lulu1115 first, accept all of the financial aid, then accept as much as you need from government loans (the rates are better than banks), and then go to a bank if you need more. I accepted all of the financial aid, all the possible money I could get from government loans, and then a loan from a bank (I used Wells Fargo and got a pretty low rate). Just an FYI, 9 times out of 10, you’ll have to have a cosigner and you will NOT get the money from the private loan until about 2 weeks after the semester starts, so if you need money to move, you’ll need to figure out something else (that was my issue and didn’t know until summer, so I had to figure everything out in less than a month). There’s only a certain amount of money you can get each year, I think you can find that online somewhere. I think it’s something like $17k including financial aid (I might be wrong, but it’s some number around there). Just look around and see where you can get the best rate. Just remember, government loans are the best to get first and then look elsewhere if you need more money.
@adreezybones No, I was conditional until I sent in my final transcripts around May-June.
Do we need to send our ap scores if we havent gotten a decision yet? I saw someone saying that the deadline is March 15 but I havent seen anything like that from my email…
@ashley31836 It’s mentioned in the email they send out (granted, the email is with regard to the provisional acceptance). They send their congratulations, explain that you need to send your test scores/transcripts, and give you a list (from your application) of which schools/organizations they’ll need the documents sent out to.
However, I’m not sure if people who were not accepted (yet) have to send them in. Did you call the school?
Does anyone know my friend is a sociology major who got accepted, but she doesn’t have her ADT as she thought, and she still needs three gen ed classes? She was wondering if she will get her admission rescinded now. It’s not lower division she doesn’t have done its actually gen ed. She was thinking of doing it in the summer. But I don’t think they accept if you’re still working on gen ed I think they want you to be starting/finishing lower division but I don’t know. @adreezybones I haven’t received any yet. Have you?
@TheNilo@IndoorCat I recommend going to SOAR the first day it’s available for your major. Classes fill up quickly during SOAR and you want to make sure you get the teachers you want. Look over the schedule a few days in advance and make a few different options of schedules because you don’t want to be rushing around during SOAR trying to pick the classes you want.
@lulu1115 She should call the school and explain the situation.
@adreezybones You’ll probably be getting financial aid offers this week or next. I think I got most of my emails from CSULB on Thursdays.
Anyone that has applied for the Illustration/Animation/Pre-Production track heard back from school? I’m wondering how long the staff takes to get through portfolios…
I just got admitted into CSULB today! They didn’t send me an email, I had to check the self-service. My major is graphic design but I have yet to turn in a portfolio for that, so they put me into Studio Art first!
Good luck to everyone who is currently waiting!
@rb8991 Hi there! I have a few questions regarding SOAR, enrollment, and classes. So I finished all my lower division courses and the date for SOAR for College of Arts is July 19th or the 25th, I was wondering if I HAVE to attend the SOAR orientation before I can register for any classes? Is that how it works at CSULB? And since I finished all my lower division classes, am I able to take upper division?
I heard if you’re going for a BFA for graphic design from studio art, that they won’t accept you into the program if you have more than a certain amount of units, and if you’re portfolio isn’t up to their standards. But it doesn’t make sense to me because the pre-reqs didn’t prepare anyone for BFA majors.
Sorry for all the questions
Does anyone else have this message when they click “accept/decline” under “admissions”
“Your application for the current admission term is no longer active. Please contact the Office of Enrollment Services at (562) 985-5471 for more information.”
Kinda worried…I left them a message hoping to hear back soon but I’m sure they’re very busy. I never accepted their offer because I thought we had until May 1st? Maybe I was wrong?
