CSULB FALL 2019 Transfer Thread

@ea1999 already? You sent in a portfolio right?

@ea1999 also how did you find out? Did you check through the self service thing or did they send you an email?

@ashley31836 yes I did send a portfolio. I checked my self service today and saw the acceptance but I haven’t received an email yet though.

@ea1999 congrats!

@transfer2019stu thank you!!

Did anyone else get their financial aid statement? I got mine today and basically because it’s so awful I will definitely not be attending. If for some reason the full statement isn’t out yet, I might change my mind, but all I got were loans and no grants and I am very disappointed and sad because its too expensive.

@hwalters6 I really was looking forward to attending CSULB until I saw that atrocious “award”. I was totally turned off by their offer. I’m going to the school tomorrow to try to see what’s up or atleast to make an appeal.

@ea1999 if you dont mind, can you share your video?

Got a hold of someone from Financial Aid, and what I got is pretty much what it is. In my case, an appeal wouldn’t help and I only got bricks. Badly disappointed, really.

@adreezybones What was your message? Was it the "User-defined text (14409,551)?

What offer did they give you? Was it dumb? @adreezybones No financial aid here! Apparently, as they always say my dad’s income is too high. Which isn’t fair because I pay for all my stuff on my own books, school, my phone, food, car, etc. Why must we put our parent’s income? A semester is almost 9 thousand at CSULB, but CSUF is almost 4 thousand. Wonder why they are different prices. Still unsure of where I even want to go.

@ggdcal mine did not have an error. I just straight up did not get anything aside from student loans.

@lulu1115 I’m an independent student myself but they’re saying I make quite a bit. So I did get an atrocious offer of nothing but student loans. Was really looking forward to attending LB until I saw that financial aid package. Even kids I met on CSULB Discord didn’t or hardly received anything.

Just got admitted for Film Theory. I’m not sure why I didn’t get into their Production major, but it’s all good. I was admitted to USC SCA for film prod in 2016 as a freshman but had to turn down because I couldn’t afford that tuition. Oh well! Congrats to all who got in!

@lulu1115 Hey, where did you see that tuition cost $9k a semester? I’m a current CSULB student (full time, taking 15-16 units each semester) and I’m only paying around $3.5k a semester (minus books).

@rb8991 that $3.5k/semester does that cover everything? Including school fees and stuff? I mean I understand that exclude course materials and etc.

@adreezybones Yeah, this semester I think I paid like $3,498 for tuition and fees (taking 16 units) and then my books were like $500. There’s a breakdown on the CSULB website.

i have a question for everyone. I was wondering ever since we all checked our self-services and it says “Congratulations! You have been offered admission to CSULB…”, if anyone got an official email, I know it says within 48 hours, but I called and she said it’ll take a week or longer. I still haven’t received an official email, or actually any emails at all, even though my email address is correct.
I called twice asking about the process of transcripts and emails.
It seems they honor the date you send out your transcripts, as long as you have proof from the transcript websites that you ordered them, because it’ll take 6-8 weeks to process transcripts.
Am I the only person not receiving emails from CSULB?
I activated my CSULB account and accepted the offer as well, but still haven’t received an official email.

@rb8991 I thought that was high but under the breakdown of financial aid, it says that as the estimated cost of tuition but it includes books as well. I feel like that is super high though I think I’m going to call and ask because that number doesn’t seem right.

@transfer2019stu hey I also only got accepted to the theory program instead :confused: kind of disappointed haha but I guess that just solidifies my decision to go to csun.

@lulu115 and @rb8991 I thought it was high too, but then realized the list I was looking at included food, transportation and housing costs
