new to this thread… @ggdcal I am still waiting for them to process the last of my documents which I turned in before the first due date. also called and was told I just have to wait for it to be processed or my acceptance to be rescinded to show proof that I sent it. I also accepted admission and put my deposit down. Haven’t received any official notices which I imagine won’t happen until paperwork is all processed. they told me it takes 7weeks to process documents so I’m just making myself crazy because I’m ready for the next step already. is all your paperwork processed already? as in no “to do list”?
Question, is the enrollment office open during spring break?
@whythefox Yeah, I was told the same thing about the processing time. I still have two official transcript requests on my to-do list, even though I sent them out back in February, I also sent then again, just in case because she didn’t tell me if they received the first round of when I sent out the official transcripts.
It’s making so anxious! Because the SOAR sign up date is April 2nd, so I wanted to be able to sign up ASAP, but I’m not sure if I’m able to if my transcripts are still being processed or “initiated”.
@ggdcal they didn’t tell me if they received the final piece for me either (ap scores) but I did contact collegeboard to get a written statement of verification just in case they rescind my acceptance because the one they originally sent me just said sent to “the institute requested” vs CSULB. I requested my scores sent at the end of February, found out they were actually sent the day before the first due date of march 15th, (though they took my money way before that). so just waiting for that 1 item. I also want to sign up for SOAR ASAP, so I feel your pain. not sure if the transcripts are required to make that appt. the FAQ says Final transcripts not required, just bring unofficial copies, so maybe we will be good. got that from http://web.csulb.edu/divisions/students/soar/faq.htm
@whythefox In the FAQ about SOAR, it states we receive information about the Online Pre-SOAR via email AFTER we accept their admittance, but I have yet to receive any emails from CSULB at all. The employee on the phone only told me it would take around a week.
Well tomorrow is the date to sign up for SOAR! So hopefully it works for every one who accepted admittance, I’ll let you know if I was able to register successfully for SOAR!
Also as long as you have proof of the date you sent out any specific documents, CSULB said they honor the date it’s been sent out, not the date it’s been after processing!
Anyone know when we can officially register for classes? I believe registration begins in April. But what if we dont accept our admission yet? Is our class registration in May? Or during SOAR? @ggdcal @rb8991 @muzzles
@lulu1115 I’m not 100% sure on this, but I read on the SOAR info page, that you’re not able to enroll in any classes until you’ve completed SOAR. SOAR is an abbreviation for student-orientation, advising, and registering. Your class registration depends on what date you sign up for SOAR. Not 100% sure though, but that’s what I searched up on.
Successfully just signed up for SOAR! Downside to School of Art (COTA) Is that it’s all the way in July. But makes sense, since I’m a transfer.
@ggdcal what day did you sign up for? I’m also school of art (art history), I signed up for July 19th. sucks it’s awhile out but yay for being able to sign up
@whythefox I’m an art education major dude! Did you sub it your SIR already? Or is it a requirement to sign up for soar?
I just registered for SOAR.
I never received any emails once my transcripts cleared. I never received any emails regarding financial aid or grants. In fact, I haven’t received any emails since they reminded me of my “conditional acceptance” (the second email.) About two weeks ago my “to do list” was cleared and had nothing left on it. I submitted my intent to enroll and paid the deposit. never received an email with instructions to register to SOAR or anything like that. I checked this morning at 7:30 and there was one item on the “to do list,” official transcripts due 7/15/2019, but it didn’t allow me to register for SOAR. I just checked again and it let me register.
Moral of the story… don’t wait for them to notify you. You may already be able to register.
@whythefox I signed up for July 19th too! Yeah, I’m sort of bummed out that the School of Art is so late, but at least we got it out of the way!
@adreezybones I’m pretty sure all transfer students and first time students are required to sign up for SOAR, I think the School of Art has 6-8 different dates, Friday to Sunday in July, and it’s $62 to sign up! Don’t forget to bring all the required documents such as unofficial documents.
I think someone who currently goes to CSULB stated we need to bring our laptops or tablets to sign up for classes, or else we have to do it on our own at home, or we have to wait, I forgot what he/she exactly said.
@indoorcat I definitely had to do everything on my own, I freaked out for a moment because I was worried
I wasn’t receiving any communication from them at all.
I checked my self-services 3/20, saying to wait for an email which would be congratulating me, and didn’t tell me what kind of acceptance it was.
Fast forward to today, actually, I received an email from them
(I think my first email from them at all after the supplemental application), w/ a link to help newly admitted students, housing, financial aid info, and SOAR sign up.
Which is really odd…because it says SOAR sign up begins April 10th, 2019…
But I read on the SOAR official page, it was today at 9 a.m., which I successfully signed up for.
So I’m not sure if that was a typo on the date.
And my acceptance is provisional! Which I just discovered, self-service and CSULB never let me know until today, what type of acceptance it was.
So yeah good advice to people who are getting anxious about receiving emails from CSULB, if you check self-services on your application, and it says you’ve been admitted.
You should try to activate your Beach account, and then sign up for SOAR asap! And make sure you check your to-do list, they won’t remind you to check, that’s something you have to do on your own.
Also!!!
It says Financial Aid offer info will be sent out through emails, around April 1st (for applicants who applied before and on March 2nd).
@adreezybones I did submit my SIR a few days ago, I believe you have to before SOAR registration. I did it even though all my documents aren’t processed yet, so hopefully nothing falls thru but don’t see why it would. (I was debating ArtEducation for a bit too!)
@IndoorCat Same on doing it myself. also I never check my junk email, except for randomly a few days ago, and for some reason my financial aid notification of award went there despite all other CSULB emails coming to my inbox. The email just says to check your student center anyways.
as for emails in general CSULB hasn’t sent much to me either, just the conditional acceptance and warnings about transcript deadlines. Specific SOAR info doesn’t get sent out till 2 weeks before your date either, I didn’t get an email confirming the date either but it does show up in the student center.
Same my date is also late it is going to be July 22nd. I wonder how hard it will be to get classes because registration is already starting soon. Kind of stinks. I’m a health science major. @ggdcal
I am currently in a dilemma. I have been accepted to all three schools (CSUF, CSULB, CPP) as a transfer student majoring in Business Administration emphasis in Supply Chain Management. In my opinion, there are pros and cons to all three schools. First, CSULB seems to be the most social and most popular overall of the three. Also, it seems to be the hardest to get into because it has the lowest acceptance rate out of the three schools. In addition, I have a few friends there and was thinking about getting an apartment with them. Second, CSUF seems to be the most reputable out of all three for business (not too sure about supply chain management though?). I have heard good things about the connections CSUF has with the OC area. Lastly, CPP seems to be the least reputable of the three but I have researched their program (Technology and Operations Management) and on their website they seem to offer many resources, such as clubs and labs. HELP!! I need to commit soon. Any feedback would be great. Thanks in advance!
@SexyAZn7 have you toured all 3 schools or asked your current professors? I was in a similar debate between CSULB and CPP but after speaking to one of my professors she recommended CSULB for the resources and variety available for my major (art history). I can’t move at this time so the commute to CSULB is much longer and was a huge con for me but when I discovered the CSULB art history dept had nearly triple the permanent staff of professors I thought for me it was best for variety. The rankings as far as how hard it is to get in, yes they are all generally pretty hard but major specific admission rates would be different; for example CPP accepted me for art history but a more competitive major like engineering at CPP would have played out differently for me.
Another idea someone else gave me is that you can request to sit in on a class at each university, or even request a department specific tour. It’s hard to go off online stats and articles (I did so much research online to no avail) because most of them are either too generalized or biased to some degree.
Hope that helps a little and good luck
@whythefox I was dead set on attending LB already until the atrocious financial aid package came in and it really turned me off. Now I’m gonna have to consider Fullerton as well (even though I haven’t really received their financial aid offer). Have you checked out both departments personally? I met the dean of COTA at Fullerton and their program sounds interesting I’m going to check it out on their CSUF day. I still kind of prefer LB should I get the same financial aid offer, but I’m probably gonna request a tour of the department. My professors recommend LB a lot, but I kinda want to see it myself.
@whythefox Thank you so much! You bring up very good points, some that I may have forgotten to do myself. I will definitely ask my professors for some insight. I have toured all 3 schools and each of them appeal to me in their unique ways. Lastly, how can I request to sit in on a class for each school and request for a department specific tour??
@SexyAZn7 I know about 5 different people who picked Fullerton as their school of choice. They had debated between LB, and CSUF but ended up meeting with staff from both schools. Once they spoke with them, and counselors at their community college before transferring they had decided Fullerton as the choice because they have the best connections within the program. They also have a brand new business building which is super nice, and their stats for business are really high. They are considered one of the best for your major. I say to tour both schools and meet with the staff to see what better suits your needs. Good luck hope you find the one for you.
