I’m planning on doing animations for games in the future and I’m unsure which one to pick. Advice is appreciated
The best program for you is the one you think is the better fit. Have you visited the campuses?
Fullerton’s animation program grants the BFA and so is 132 units. FTF are admitted to the BA art program and only after completing your prereq. courses satisfactorily are you admitted to the BFA later on (sophomore or junior year). Not sure if you need to pass a formal portfolio review - that is something you should definitely ask them if you are not sure yourself.
In contrast, Northridge offers just the BA in art with a concentration in animation. Total units is 120.
Fullerton definitely has a great reputation in the entertainment arts industry but both universities are located in the right area for connections and internships. You might ask each university about its placement in the game design industry (since that is your specific interest) as well as time to complete the degree (guessing that the BFA will take longer). The BFA will have an additional advantage in that you will be doing more studio courses, particularly figure drawing. If you have a lot of that already, you might be able to do quite well with just the BA.
Good luck!
