CUHK vs. Aalto for Engineering

Basically, I’m in between choosing Aalto or CUHK. Aalto is in Finland, Helsinki. CUHK is in Hong Kong. Both are Top100 overall and Top100 in my field (CUHK is slightly better in rankings).

I have a 100% scholarship for both bachelors and masters at Aalto, which is pretty dope. I will be studying “Computational Engineering” there. I’m planning to do my master’s degree on Machine Learning, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence or Human-Computer Interaction (Aalto offers these).

On the other hand, I have a 75% scholarship from CUHK (only for a 4-year bachelor). I will be studying “Artificial Intelligence: Systems and Technologies” there. I know that CUHK is especially known for its CS department. They rank 13 in AI worldwide. 38 in CS overall.

I know that both are top-notch institutions and I’ll most likely be happy in both. But, which one do you think has an edge?

P.S. I’m an international student from Turkey, Istanbul.

Aalto promotes innovative thinking and the free Bachelor’s+Master’s would be hard to pass.

Further, I would avoid Hong Kong right now due to the crackdown on democracy and university students.
