I am at a 4 year university and I am looking to transfer to anther 4 year university. What will happen to my cumulative GPA? Will it be shown on my new university transcript or will it simply go away. Will it be shown on future resumes for jobs and for grad school applications? I am wondering what will happen to it.
Cumulative GPA for grad school/jobs will require that you re-calculate using all of your credits from both places.
Whether or not your grades are recorded on the transcript of the new university depends on that institution’s policy. Many don’t record the grades, just the course equivalents with a note that credit for Course X was given for transferred credit.
Most schools start you at zero when you transfer, but you can certainly add the previous school GPA to a resume.
