CUNY Acceptances - Fall 2020

aa okay, thanks

I am so anxious. All my friends heard back from Baruch but I didn’t. So I made a Cunyfirst account to see my application status and it says my application is completed and being reviewed. But when I checked yesterday it all of the sudden says it’s incomplete and I am missing my hs transcript. This is extremely weird because I know for sure I have completed everything on the Common App back in Feb. I tried calling Baruch Admissions but no one picked up. I just emailed the admission office and I hope they reply back asap. I really want to get in and I hope everything is okay.

I just got into Baruch [my top choice]
So …
Queen College: accepted
Brooklyn College: accepted
Baruch College: accepted
Hunter College: rejected
Major: Biological Sciences
GPA: 4.0
SAT: 1120
Ranking: 3rd
I also have csec results [a caribbean examination where ones are the highest and and three is the last passing grade. Everything below is a fail] with 6 ones 2 twos and a three
Doing 3 AP subjects
Some extracurriculars

@llwuey could I ask what your stats are?

Hello, I’m a transfer, and I applied to City, Queens, and York College.
I got a response from Queens today, and I’m waiting for City and York before I make a decision. Just wanted to keep this updated, so people know they’re still looking through applications.

Hi, I just want to ask for some input. This all happened more than a week ago. I had applied to a honors program at Hunter and received an email that I had been accepted. However, the next day I received an email that it was an error and I didn’t get in. I didn’t really think much of it until my twin brother (who doesn’t plan on going to Hunter) received an email he had gotten accepted into the honors program but never applied for it. Is it normal for people who don’t apply specifically to them to still receive acceptance into the honors programs?

@worldsalone You definitely need to apply to get into a Scholats program. Hunter sent a bunch of acceptances to Yalow Scholars without even reviewing the people’s applications. The same thing happened to me as well as another girl. They said more decisions should be coming out within the next few weeks.

I applied to hunter Queens and Baruch on Dec. 6 through common app and on cuny first it says my transcript still has not been revived by any of those colleges. I called queens in early March and the lady told me that my application “is still being evaluated.” I am very stressed. All of my friends have been accepted and I have not. Is it normal to be waiting this long? Also, when is the last day to get a decision from cuny?

@Itsme1107 I applied in January and I’m also still waiting. I would keep checking about your transcript status because I sent mine several times but for some reason they didn’t get it and I had to email it to an admissions counselor and she attached it to my application so that it would be complete, up until this point my application said incomplete. The CUNY schools have rolling admissions and they are still taking applications so don’t be scared about deadlines or it being “too late” for you.

@idgoff Ok, thank you! I hope you get your decision soon <3

Does CUNY allow transfer students to defer their admissions for at least one semester? i.e Queens and Baruch College

What does it mean if it says “your application is on a waitlist for admission?” Does that mean I’m waitlisted?

@hotbox12 I found this on a cuny website “Applicants, undergraduate or graduate, who are admitted and are unable to start their studies may defer their enrollment for one or two academic semesters, but no more than two academic semesters. Thereafter, the applicant must re-apply for admission.” so yes you can defer a semester. I am also considering deferring for a semester or a year depending on how the coronavirus situation pans out. NYC has the most cases out of any city in the US and the health system is failing. I hope things begin to get better soon, cases and China and Italy have begun to decline so that is a glimmer of hope.

@enterthegalactic may I ask what your stats are?

@idgoff Is this applicable for transfer students as well? The situation in NYC is crazy and I was hoping they would let you defer. Got this reply from Queens College-

Dear Student,

At this time transfer students do not have the option to defer. You will simply have to submit a new application whenever you are able to attend classes for a future semester.

Sincerely,

CUNY Queens College Undergraduate Admissions

@hotbox13 I guess not then. Seems as though only newly accepted undergraduate students and newly accepted graduate students can defer and not transfers. sorry for getting your hopes up.

Hello, I got an email today saying that “I have been selected as an alternate”, what does it mean? same as waitlist?

@KPTBMT , Is it for SophieDavis/CUNY- BSMD pgm? If so, which date did you attend the interview and are you from OOS?

Yes, Sophie Davis/CUNY. Interview was on Mar.4th and I’m out of state.

@KPTBMT Thanks, there is also another thread for Sophie-BSMD
