curmudgeon :?

Hey guys,
I am memorizing the Barron`s 3500 words and i am not quite sure what does curmudgeon means ? As far as i know this should be a synonim of boorish and churlis and according to the Longman dictionary of contemporary English it means :

[countable] old-fashioned
someone who is often annoyed or angry, especially an old person

I also cant quite understand the meaning of the word ‘‘curator’’ .Is it ’ a menager of zoo ,library or museum’ ?

I remembered curmudgeon as an old, annoying and angry person. Just some bitter old guy.

Curator is like the manager of a (most likely) museum. I think he decides what to put on displays, etc.

But don’t trust me 100%, since i didn’t so well on CR. Verify it :)

Curmudgeon - crusty but benign

curmudgeon i think is someone whos irritated and hot tempered.
curator idk

oh god barrons infamous 3500, i suggest u do princeton review’s Word smart I and II. those are actually like 1600words,and they’ll easy to nail.
it has like minimum of 2 sentences for word usage.

Curator in a museum has the sense of “caretaker” of the fine objects and collections; does much academic research, decides on what to exhibit, writes in the catalogues.

By contrast, the Director of the museum is an administrator/fundraiser and is boss over all the curators.

There can be many curators, for example: Curator of Roman Art, Curator of Modern Art, Curator of Educational Programs in the same museum, but only one Director.

In that way, a curator is like a manager, but middle level and not top level of authority.

I didn’t know they called them “curators” at zoos and libraries, but it makes sense.

The curator may also act as host of said museum. Their basically the face of the institution.

Curmudgeon. I think of Scrooge lol.

Curmudgeon - very cranky person

Yeas,all right
Curmudgeon - cranky, contentios ,most likely old man.
I ve already memorized 1200 / 3500 words and i needed 17-18 days.So i will finish them and after that i will learn princeton review’s Word smart I and II as well.
Thank you.

barrons are not that useful… it’s really depressing to memorize many words, and realizing that they wont help you much. i finished princeton’s words smart I,II, and GRE, was on my way to barrons, but i dind’t finish it,because i know i have more important things to do to raise my score…
vocab can only help u so much, 3500 wont do much help

Look, these 3500 words are really overwhelming but there is no doubt : this 3500 list always has more hits than any other one.Besides,it won
t kill you if you learn these 3500 words and after that princeton
s words ?
