Currency for trip to Switzerland?

Help! DH will be making a brief business trip to Switzerland. Will he need to have Swiss francs, or will he be able to make small purchases with dollars? Thanks!

Although USD (and EUR) are accepted at lots of places the exchange rates are usually terrible for individual purchases so she should have some CHF with her…

My daughter has lived in Switzerland, as well as has been a visitor and I also have been a visitor, and I think your husband will need to use CHF. Those can be gotten once he gets there.

Should use CHF… some places might take dollars, but (as was mentioned) they will basically steal from you on the exchange rate they charge.

You can get swiss francs at a bank or atm

Your local AAA may have small “cash packs,” just enough to start the first day or two of a trip. If they do not have swiss currency, they likely can get it with a few days notice. There are easy to work with. You can also order a cash pack online if you are a member.

Thanks all! I will get him the “cash pack” from AAA, and advise him to use his ATM if he needs more. :)

Not all offices have them, but they can tell you the closest office that does.
