I’m nervous because people have already gotten their acceptance letters. Also, I realize that I should’ve gotten a written confirmation about the completion of my application. I got an email, but no letter in the mail. However, the mail said that if I was missing anything, they would contact me and that never happened. But still no mail. Is this something I should be worrying about? I’m so anxious for my results!

jayzee, I got my acceptance letter yesterday and I did not receive anything in the mail confirming my application, only an email. Don’t worry about it!

Clemson did promise you that you’d hear back sometime this week, I think they might be slowly sending out the letters, I’d contact them if you don’t hear anything by thursday or friday. Good Luck!

Thank you so much! Congratulations!

To whoever can answer:
How is the diversity at Clemson and do different races interact much?

iksrtw- All of those colleges have a distinct setting. Is that something in particular your S is looking to do/get from college? Have you visited all three campuses?

There is a small amount of diversity on campus (I think it is ~85% Caucasian). There is a large amount of interaction between the races, although some of them tend to congregate with similar races. Do you have any specific questions on this issue?

No just wondering because I applied for transfer admissions for the fall and am just trying to find a good fit.

Mitch…thanks for answeing questions. My D is in at Clemson and it’s high on her list but we haven’t had a chance to schedule a visit yet. From what she can tell, there aren’t sorority or fraternity houses, just dorms that house those students? Is that correct?

That is correct. From what I know, most fraternities and sororities have bigger houses off campus (one is directly across from Fike) in addition to the official dorm housing.

Mitch,
My son was recommended for admission for fall 2010 in Graphic Communications through the Bridge program. We think the extra advising and such that the Bridge participants receive might be helpful for our son. Are you familiar with how well the kids who complete their freshman year at TriCounty Tech assimilate into the culture once they officially start at Clemson at the beginning of sophomore year? By the way, the housing for the Bridge program looks pretty nice.

Thanks.

Am I the only one who hasn’t gotten an acceptance letter yet? I applied before the December deadline and am wondering when I’m going to find out. It’s making me nervous!

Jayzee, where are u from, I applied in mid-november and received my admissions letter on Saturday, I live OOS in Maine. Good Luck.

Mitch, you’ve been answering these questions for along time now. Do you still love it there? At one point, you thought of transferring…are you glad you stayed? Any regrets that you chose Clemson? Would you receommend it to others as a place to spend their 4 years of undergrad?

hobie1- I don’t know anyone specifically who went through the bridge program, but I do know of a few people who have come to Clemson after a year at a CC. From what I can tell, they haven’t had any trouble fitting in at Clemson. If you son really wants to be at Clemson, then I would suggest the program (especially if he’ll try to transfer to Clemson after a year regardless). Are there any other schools he’s interested in?

lotta- I do still love it here, more and more each day. I am extremely glad that I didn’t throw any transfer applications out there. Looking back on it, I thought about it at a time when I didn’t really want grad school and was looking for a place with a better finance reputation. I was never too serious about it, but I did my research, and concluded Clemson easily the best place for me. I also thought about it over winter break, and as soon as I started class again those thoughts faded. I was being pretty short sighted (stupid) about the situation. I don’t think that I could have been happier anywhere else, and the opportunities here have been opening up for me. I would wholeheartedly recommend Clemson to anyone looking at colleges.

I’m out of state in PA, and got waitlisted with:
580 SAT Critical Reading
710 SAT Mathematics (1290/1600)
560 SAT Writing (1850/2400)
28 ACT Composite
29 ACT English
31 ACT Math
3.3 Unweighted GPA
4.0 Weighted GPA
I’m taking 3 AP classes this year, and took one last year. I got 3 A’s and 3 B’s first semester.

What do you think my chances of being accepted off of the waitlist are?

Mitch: What is the parking situation for freshman? Can they have cars? Or is there off- campus parking? Do you have any idea what the expense is for that?

I’d say that your stats are pretty good, but I am not sure how Clemson deals with the wait-list.

Freshman are allowed to have cars on campus. However, you are required to park 5-10 min from campus. On weekends employee parking is available to students for convenience. I am not sure what the parking fee is for the year as only the prorated fee is on the website (from what I could find). I would say that the parking here is good, but a lot of students complain due to the walk to the lots and the inflexible parking rules (most students get a ticket or two).

Thanks Mitch. Hopefully i’ll get in off of the wait list. It turns out that they somehow never received my SAT scores, even though they should have been selt electronically after each time I took them as well as by the guuidance counselor. They may have lost them, if that is at all possible. Hopefully receiving them will boost me to the front of the waitlist and get me accepted relatively soon.

Mitch, I have a question about transportation to Clemson (no clue where you live so I don’t know if you can answer this). I live in Boston, MA and have been exploring the options for getting to Clemson. As far as I know these are the options:

-20 hour Amtrak ride
-Fly to Atlanta, GSP, or Charlotte
-Greyhound to Anderson
-Drive

For the airplane option, how would a Clemson student get from Clemson to Atlanta, GSP, or Charlotte? It seems like there is no way to get to the airports from Clemson without carpooling.

Also, how safe is Clemson as a whole?

Thanks!

I have a few friends from Boston who are on the hockey team with me. I believe that most of them drive or fly to/from campus. I believe that there is a shuttle from the airports to campus, but I don’t have any specific information on it.

Campus is very safe. This year they have installed a few more of the ‘blue lights’ on campus. I feel very safe (so do the girls I know) on and around campus. I spent last summer in Raleigh (~1 mile from NC State) and I feel much safer here.
