I have a 3.93 uw gpa (top HS in california)
31 ACT (33math, 34 writing, 28 science, 28 reading) *I know, not amazing
great extracurriculars (multiple music academys/awards, marching band, varsity soccer, captain of drumline, NHS etc)
applying to engineering

BUT

I haven’t applied for the priority deadline… Am I doomed if I am out of state too???
Also, does legacy at the school count? My grandpa went to UMD

You have a high GPA, and being from CA will help, compared to if you were applying from NJ. You won’t be in the running for any merit $$, though, and even if you will qualify for need-based aid, UMD does NOT meet all needs…just mentioning so you are prepared for hefty OOS tuition. I do think you have a reasonable chance, however. The legacy part probably won’t help much. UMD is mostly about the numbers when it comes to admit decisions. Good luck!

I would only apply if you are willing to pay the full amount of COA. You more than likely will not get any scholarships or a very small one. You would have been admitted had you gotten you application in on time. Now you may or may not.
