hi there! i decided to pop back on CC after finding my old admissions post when doing a google search for grad schools (lol). thought i’d pop back in to offer any advice, tell some stories, talk about how college life has been etc. idk how often i’ll be able to answer but i’ll try to check in at least daily!
below is some important background information. for my own sanity’s sake i will not be writing out my application stats haha; if you go on my profile you can see my stats in the march 2024 post!
- majors: microbiology and german (decided to double major after all!)
- certificate: bioethics (found this through a freshman program and fell in love with it. turns out i like public health!)
- current undergrad GPA: 2.866 (last semester was really rough, i had a 3.217 prior)
- research experience: found a nice niche in disability justice research here! all of this is with the same program
- freshman year:
- collaborator role! the paper/journal is not published yet but iirc i’m going to be a co-author!
- sophomore year: i got to hop on for two projects this year!
- non-research participant/collaborator for one project
- research participant/collaborator! i plan on taking on a role as co-author
- lab courses: bio 1 research and bio 2 research sophomore year. planning on enrolling in another lab and a lab writing practicum next semester (not listing for privacy/safety)
- freshman year:
- post-grad plans: hoping to get a phd in infectious disease and become an infectious disease scientist. my passion topic is the intersectionality of disability and infectious disease, especially regarding covid-19! i’m seriously hoping the co-authorships i’m pursuing will help my chances :’)
it’s getting late so i’m going to wrap this up! i’m not sure if i can ask grad school questions on CC. if so, i’ll probably be popping in here occasionally! happy asking
