Current students, how good is NUTV?

Does it make up for the lack of cable in the dorms? What kind of channels do you get?

Here are the channels through NUTV this year,

NU Channel 1
CSPAN
CSPAN 2
MTV U

CNN
Comedy Central
Discovery Channel
ESPN
ESPN 2
E!
Fox News Channel
History Channel
MTV
TBS
TNT
Cartoon Network
USA
Vh1
CBS
Fox
WGN
ABC
NBC
UPN

Theres not a whole lot missing there… I guess all you fans of the Disney Channel and Telemundo are just out of luck. Really though, I think it gives you pretty much anything you need.

NUTV is fine… not the best quality but if you’re clever enough you can still watch it on a big tv. It’s kinda neat watching it on the computer while you do your homework and stuff though.

How exactly does that work? It being on ur computer and all.

It’s only available if you’re in the campus network, such as in dorms, or on “nuwlan” wireless. You go to http://www.tss.northwestern.edu/nutv/helpguide/</a> and click “Watch expanded NUTV”… then a tv just opens, with a guide saying what’s on every channel… click and watch.

awesome…it has Fox = 24 :)

and comedy central :)

it sucks, there’s no nip/tuck

But TV lounges in MANY dorms get cable channels such as FX, and Nip/Tuck is popular enough that no one will want to kick you out when you want to watch.

dfleshi, this is a random question, but do many students at NU dress preppy?

hah… I mean, it’s probably the same amount as the general population… I haven’t noticed an excessive number of A&F/preppy people here. But they exist. It’s nothing notable.

What? No Food Network? How do you get your Iron Chef fix?

If there was the Food Network, I’d probably get nothing done and fail all my classes. Not kidding lol

I’m from somewhere where almost nobody dresses preppy (except tourists), so I think that a ton of people here dress preppy. But if you’re from the mainland, especially a reasonably upper class neighborhood, you probably won’t even notice.
