Current students: Math and science for non-science, non-math majors

<p>Need to know:

  1. If kid isn’t going to take more than the min math, statistical reasoning and scientific inquiry classes, does he still have to take the math placement exam? And even if he places highly on the math placement, can he take something lower, like precalc, even though he took it in high school? Or should he just avoid a regular math class altogether, and just take something like Logic?
  2. Example of a class non-science majors take to fulfill their SI requirement?
  3. Same with SR?
  4. Same with MF?

<li>No, he doesn’t. You can fulfill the requirements without it. And yes, you can take classes lower than your placement score. </li>

But some common examples without prerequisites are</p>

<li><p>Linguistics 50: Intro to Linguistics, Anthropology 1: Introduction to Human Evolution</p></li>
<li><p>Applied Math and Statistics 5: Statistics Intro </p></li>
<li><p>Computer Science 5J: Intro to Programming with Java, Astronomy 2: Overview of the Universe</p></li>
</ol>

<p>Not to mention these are all classes with excellent professors, so hopefully they will be enjoyable to a not-science/math student. :)</p>
