current undergrads-what were your stats?

as much as we all love chances threads…hehe…could we have some current gtown students post what stats they had?
i think that many of us would benefit from seeing what ECs, scores, and grades ACTUAL gtown students had.

Terrapin7: just curious, are you a Univ of Maryland fan or do they actually have terrapins in Iowa?? You know the terrapin is UMD’s mascot right? What year of high school or college are you in? Only reason I am on this thread is awaiting a decision letter for my daughter.

hi caruth-
i grew up in maryland and most of my family attended/attends the Univ of Maryland. i guess i’m a pretty big terrapin fan.
i don’t really know if we have terrapins here in iowa. but we do have hawkeyes–and I’m a fan of them, as well.
i’m a junior in high school.
also–I wish your daughter good luck!

Here’s an abbreviated version of what my stats were:

School admitted to: SFS
GPA: 3.98/4.0, weighted, top 5%
ACT: 33/36
SAT II: Lit 690, Bio E 750, US Hist 780
AP: 5’s on US Hist, Compartive Pol., Bio., English Lang.
-Exec Board of 100+ member Model UN team for 2 years, numerous Best Delegate awards at big conferences over 4 years. In Charge of 300 delegate regional conference.
-4 years Varsity Forensics in Extemp. Speaking, 1 year as VP
–Also had a myriad of interesting summer experiences and awards.

Note on GPA at Georgetown: Overall GPA is NOT what is most important to the Admissions Committee. You clearly need to be over a certain threshold, but individual grades in classes, difficulty of those classes, and relation to some sort of passion is WAY more important. My 3.98 overall GPA isn’t very indicative of the fact that I had 7 AP classes appear on my Soph-Senior transcripts that Georgetown saw with grades of A or better in every one each semester and the fact that my GPA in history courses at my high school (2 years of AP) was the highest in my class and the only grades I received in history, my area of passion as identified them, were A’s or A+'s all 8 semesters, including 4 semesters of AP.
