Customizing Degree Title on Resume

I am planning to get a master’s degree in a major that has a really long name. Is it possible if I can some how condense the title or change it? For example, suppose that my title is: MS Engineering with specialization in Integrated Technology Management. Can I change it to MS Engineering (concentration: Management) Do you suggest that I leave the full title on?

Thanks.

  1. How far in the future is this? You talk about it ("I am planning to") like you haven't even started on the degree yet.
  2. What's wrong with it being long? That's the title of the degree.

Anything verifiable like degrees should be put down exactly as it is, so that there is no question of lying or misleading.

Information Technology Management is completely different from Management, so a Master’s degree in Engineering with an IT Management concentration will prepare you completely differently than a Master’s degree in Engineering with a Management concentration. You can work with formatting to make it more visually appealing (typically you would emphasize the degree first and the concentration second rather than a single long line, though the single long line is also just fine). As others said, avoid any chance of being perceived as misleading.
