"Cuz I'm A Midd Kid"

Hi, I know everybody in the world is doing this, but I’m just wondering about my Midd chances. It’s highly competitive, and I know there are plenty of other great liberal arts schools I’d be happy at. Midd is just unbelievable though; it’s just perfect.
SATs: 700 math, 700 writing, 640 reading
Rank:5/149
High School: Public, but I have taken the most advanced classes available to me, which includes AP environmental science, AP calc, AP euro, AP lit, French 6, and Latin 4, as of right now.
GPA: 4.29311 (weighted, close to 3.97 unweighted)
Recommendations: 1 from a Midd alumna (I don’t know if that counts for anything), 1 from a research lab studying neuroscience (what I hope to major in) and 1 from an English teacher
Extracurriculars: 3 school clubs (in leadership, and community service), volunteer work in tutoring math to other calculus, precalc, and algebra students, 2 varsity sports (captain of one and state qualifier for the other), 9 years as a USAG gymnast (4th in Vermont (I’m from VT, does that count for anything?)), 9 years National Guild piano qualifier, National Honor Society, Dartmouth Book Award, Latin 3 Award, BU RISE (research internship in science and engineering, which is surprisingly competitive 50/270) studying neurodegenerative diseases (which is relevant to me because my father has Parkinson’s disease), 2 environmental Acadia Institute of Oceanography trips, Conservation Camp, a Brown University course on DNA, ECI foreign exchange program (with an additional informal exchange with my host sister the following year, resulting in me skipping a year of french), Governor’s Institute on Asian Cultures (which had a 2 week trip to China included, sponsored by the Freeman Foundation)

I hope this doesn’t sound cocky, I’ve just worked what feels like my entire life to be prepared to submit this application.

You look like you have a decent chance, but Midd isn’t the kind of school anyone should have their heart absolutely set on before they actually get in. I remember seeing multiple 34-36 ACT students with 3.9x GPAs get rejected in the results thread last year. That said, your stats are definitely in range, your ECs are pretty friggin sweet, and taking high levels of both French and Latin definitely helps at a school like Midd. If you got rejected, it would be for your test scores, which are ever so slightly below average at Midd. Average at Midd is roughly a 2080 IIRC.

To be honest, I would be a little worried about a 1340 because I think Midd’s median SAT score is more like 1390 or 1400. I guess you can’t re-take the SAT----are you already a senior? I think it does help a tiny bit to be from Vermont, though, and your class rank and EC’s are excellent. If you have 3 SAT II scores that look better, submit those instead of the SAT I. Consider ED II if you didn’t apply ED I.
