For those of you going tomorrow to Decision day I have a few pointers. I know they have recommendations on the site but I want to emphasize how important it is to follow them. I went on an organized tour on the hottest day of the year last year (I still chose it though lol) and I will admit that depending on your guide, it can be brutal.

We made NO stops. Not even 5 minutes to buy extra water. In retrospect, I probably should have explored on my own because the tour didn’t really cover ALL of UC Davis and it still kicked my ass.

My tips***

1.) Bring a backpack with extra water. (It’s not going to be anywhere near as hot as the day I went, but the campus is huge and once the water is gone you have to wait to get to the ARC to steal away and grab a quick drink at the not-too-cold drinking fountain she glared at me for walking away from the group lol).

2) Wear COMFORTABLE shoes. I know some people are perfectly comfortable in 4 inch heels but there is a reason most prefer riding a bike. A girl who came on the tour wore 4 inch heel/sandal thingies and by the time we arrived at the bookstore, every step she made caused her to wince in pain. That wasn’t even quite HALF the tour.

3.) Be prepared to lose your modesty. I am a jeans and t-shirt girl myself but when I was on the tour I wished I had been wearing shorts and a tank top. Go layered, so you can put a jacket or heavier shirt in your backpack if it gets hot :)

I’m not trying to scare anyone because it’s not going to be that hot, but if you are from a cooler climate it may affect you more. Having these things with you will help you enjoy the school more IMHO. Just a heads up :)

If you have your transcripts ready you can bring them into the admissions office tomorrow too.
