If i got a D in AP stats first semester senior year would i have to report this to csu/sdsu admissions? also will it affect my admission if i have been accepted
Yes. Pretty sure Stat falls under “Math” and is a A-G class under C.
Yes you need to contact the schools and yes it can impact your admissions.
UC/CSU acceptances are conditional that you pass all a-g courses in-progress Senior year with a C or higher. So getting a D in any a-g course could result in your admissions being rescinded. Is this for 1st semester?
Being proactive is important so if this is a 1st semester grade, most schools will wait to see if you can get your final grade/transcript up to a C or higher before rescinding your acceptance. I would contact the schools and try to work with admissions to see how you can remediate the D.
yes this was a first semester grade, and would stats be considered an a-g course since i have also fullfilled my a-g reqs for math? I asked my school counselor and she said i wouldnt need to report it for csus but i needed to for ucs. i am trying my hardest to get above a C for the second semester. Also how would I contact the office of admissions?
thank you so much for responding by the way!
- Depending upon which CSU’s you have already been admitted or applied, all conditional admissions do state you need to complete all a-g courses Senior year with C or higher.
Here is what SDSU states:
Once you are provisionally admitted, we will verify this information against your official transcript(s).
Your admission may be rescinded for the following reasons:
- Your GPA or course grades are lower than what you reported on the application.
- You earned D or F grades and did not maintain your GPA.
- You missed any admission deadlines.
- You misreported or did not complete a required course.

Some CSU’s will not care since you have met the a-g course requirements but I would still contact them just to be sure. Schools do not like surprises once you enroll and submit final transcripts.
For the UC’s, some but not all will accept grade updates and again your admission will not be rescinded until they receive final transcripts.
A C 2nd semester of AP Stats can validate your D 1st semester but the UC’s are not as lenient as most of the CSU’s.
For the Cal states, you need to email the admissions office for each individual campus. Also if you have acceptances, it should spell out your conditions of admission.
For the UC’s, see section 2 on this link and it will explain how to update your grades. After you apply | UC Admissions
Good luck and make sure you keep any documentation you receive back from the schools just in case.
Thank you! the acceptance page on the sdsu website says this:
“To accept our offer of admission, you must complete all items in your To Do list. If you do not comply with the requirements indicated, your admission offer will be canceled. Please keep in mind that you must complete, with grades of C- or higher, all course work indicated on your application as in progress or planned, and maintain your reported overall grade point average.” also their admitted students page says “If you misreported grades for any required courses, your offer of admission may be withdrawn. In addition, you must maintain your overall GPA as reported on the application, and courses taken in your senior year must be completed with grades of C- or higher by the end of the spring 2024 term. If your GPA drops or you earn a D or F during your senior year in any course, any offer of admission may be withdrawn.” does this mean i will be rescinded? my overall gpa went up with the addition of first semester seniors year but im afriad what will happen due to the D in stats. generally would this result in a rescission?
Yes, they are saying the D could have your acceptance rescinded. That is why I stated that you need to contact admissions. They will usually wait and see what your 2nd semester grade in AP Stats will be before they take any action. Notifying them now and working with the admissions office to make sure you can maintain your acceptance is important. Better to find out your options now than in July when your transcripts are due and you may not have other school options.
Thank you! I will make sure to notify them as soon as I can, generally what is the likelihood i would be rescinded?
Admissions is the only one that can tell you the chances of your acceptance of being rescinded. SDSU is a very competitive school and they deny thousands of qualified applicants each year.
If you have a good reason for the D grade or this is the only blemish on an outstanding academic record, they can be more lenient but it is important to work with admissions.
Good luck.
thank you!
Could you work with your AP stats teacher to do extra credit or anything to help remediate your grade? Unless you cheated or something, I’m sure most teachers would rather help you than see your college acceptance rescinded.
this is a bit late but, her policy is really strict on permitting students to do extra work, I ended up committing to loyola new orleans for hip hop and rnb studies and am on the waitlist at nyu, thank you so much for your help
