I have a D (65.7) in AP Physics 1 currently. I was able to get a B- last semester due to the curve my teacher gave the class. I want to major in either Business Marketing or Industrial Engineering. I have the chance to get a C- in the class and my teacher does curve the grades by .5 if you are borderline. I study a lot for this class, it’s just not my best subject. I have been studying a lot for the Ap test and if I pass, do you think colleges will not look at my B- And C-/D so harshly?
What year are you in high school?
How have you done in math classes, and have you taken all of the math classes that were supposed to be taken prior to AP Physics? Physics depends quite a bit on mathematics.
I am a junior in high school. I have taken Accel Geometry, Algebra 2 Honors, and PreCalc Honors. In Accel Geometry, I got a B+ both semesters, Algebra 2 Honors, I got a B- and then an A- after taking a lot of time to boost my grade. I am currently taking PreCalc. Unfortunately, I got a C+ last semester, but I am on track for an A this semester.
I have taken the required math for AP Physics 1 since it is a Algebra based class although integrates some calculus in one of the units but very easy to learn in my opinion
No.
Industrial engineering is Business engineering per se. It’s a great field and can work in many different sectors.
You need solid math and science courses. My son is 4 years out doing it and loves the field. Physics was his worst class in college but only had to take 2 of them. I would meet with your teacher and get help now. Go everyday if you have to. Getting the foundation is important. In college my son had a 65% on a physics test and I asked him if he needs a tutor. He told me it was one of the highest scores in his class in college. Lol.
Again, learn to ask for help. In college studying in groups and getting help is sorta of expected in engineering or really any field. College is much tougher then high school.
Do everything your teacher suggests (ie., wants you to do unless you’re not motivated enough) to get that C/C-.
What are you taking for math and science next year (and what’s your overall schedule)?
What colleges are you aiming for?
In general, college admissions officers will put more emphasis on the transcript (ex. how students perform in the classroom over a sustained period of time) than the results of AP exams.
