I’m a freshmen, currently i’m in all honor core classes which are 1 grade above freshmen and more challenging than the regular classes but i’m getting a D in geometry X and a D in Spanish, i’m for sure going to go to summer school to fix my geometry X grade but I have 2 questions about this. First, will my geometry X grade be an A if i do summer school and get everything done. And 2, what can I do about my Spanish grade and will this elective have much of an affect on my college applications? The 3 colleges I have in mind are 1. Stanford 2. UCLA 3. USC.
Spanish is not an elective it is a core class and with two Ds freshman year already it is not a good start, especially for those 3 schools.
For my school it is an elective, you have the choice whether or not to take it.
UCLA will not count your freshman grades for UC GPA, but you will need to fulfill a-g requirements.
Even if i’m taking a sophomore class?
Correct.
You should still have four to six weeks left in the fall semester, so you still have time to work on those grades. Meet with your teachers immediately to talk about what is going wrong and what you can do to save this semester. Then meet with your academic counselor to review your schedule for spring semester.
Thanks for the advice, I would only be having troubles with math ATM, but the reason I have trouble with Spanish is because the teacher had a very strong Spanish accent and does not seem to care about the understanding of the students which makes it very difficult.
Speaking Spanish with a Spanish accent makes it difficult?
Have you met with your teachers or counselor yet?
Yes, met with them. My schedule isn’t changed I will still be taking Spanish for college influence. Teachers didn’t have really anything to say besides study.
No, I said the Spanish teacher has a really strong accent so it’s like listening to a sentence that is half Spanish and half English.
