I am taking probiotics. Do you know the name of the med for retention?

Bookmarking. I’ve had terrible UTIs my whole life. They’ve gotten better by using many things suggested here. I’ll have to look into this new suggestion.

romanigypsyeyes–UTIs are terrible. It’s a pain you can’t ignore.

I will say that I think cranberry juice has made the biggest difference. I’m hoping they’ll diminish in frequency with age. They have already improved significantly.

By better, I mean less frequent. There is no better with the pain once they hit, at least that I’ve found.

The medication that I am thinking of is Bethanechol. Your urologist will know if this is appropriate for you. I hope so, I know that it helped my mother!

Thanks ECmother!

romanigypsyeyes–Have you tried Cystex? 1 Tbsp is supposed to equal 8 glasses of cranberry juice. I imagine you keep a product like Uristat with you at all times for the pain until you can get treatment. Don’t take it on an empty stomach though.

No bethie, I haven’t. Is that something you can pick up at a regular supermarket? Thanks for the tip!

I get Cystex at our local pharmacy. It is over the counter. Comes in pill or liquid form. Might be available in supermarkets too.
