D1 Women's Javelin

This is my first year throwing Jav, and at my second meet I threw an 88.4. If I continue to throw for the next 4 years I should throw over 100. I’m going to play D1 Ice Hockey for women. But would it also help me get recruited if I could also do Javelin for them in the Spring? Would that give me the advantage over other recruits for hockey?

It’s really difficult and unusual to compete in more than one sport at the D1 level. Track athletes are working out in the fall and competing indoors in the winter and outdoors after spring break. Womens hockey goes through what, early March?

I just don’t see that working out. I know they don’t throw javelin until outdoor, but coach still wants his athletes working out all fall and winter.

But if you continue to progress in javelin in high school (you’re off to a great start) and are throwing 120+ by your junior year, that could end up being your ticket. Or if you choose not to pursue javelin in college - it could still be an indicator to a college hockey coach of your athleticism.

Your plan could work quite well in D3, though.

jav is definitely a side thing, but I just happen to be good at it. i was just hoping it could give me the advantage over other hockey recruits when they’re picking. but thank you! very helpful.
