I wouldn’t define Louisville as sketchy. It is a city though so that has city things (crime, etc.) but you can say the same of LSU / Baton Rouge - nice campus but close to the city and Louisville (subjective as it’s just an opinion) is way better than Baton Rouge - outside of the schools - but comes with great things nearby - downtown, airport, fantastic zoo, amusement park (Kentucky Kingdom) etc.
Per the school, 64% of first year live on campus. I’m sure it’s a local-ish crowd - but most schools will be - less so at flagships in the south (Louisville isn’t the South, btw - it just is labeled as such). The other choice would be UK but it’s $50K with $8K merit ($42K for tuition, room and board) which is over budget - especially when adding books, transport, personal. Has a degree in Sports Leadership
Geographic diversity will be minimal at Louisville - it’s 3rd party from College Factual but 82% in state. U Kansas 60%. WVU 46%. LSU 82%.
A popular and prolific Masters in Sports Management school is Ohio U (hard to get to). It’s got a BS too - and is another - like Miami, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Marshall etc. - lower level D1. It’s about $41K for tuition, room and board. They have OOS merit and note 99% of kids get aid (I guess need or merit) at an average of $9K but they don’t have a table (like a KU).
Add to the “big” school experience - in addition to added WVU, don’t forget Texas Tech (mentioned earlier) which is likely easier to get to from Mass (Southwest to Dallas and then a short hop).
Sorry for so many names - but I’m budget conscious (without loans).
